Principal £95,000 – £110,00 + Benefits, in Leeds

Welcome

Our academy is at an exciting stage in its development. Two years after becoming a sponsored academy we have students making much better progress, a much improved ethos, significantly better behaviour and attitudes to learning, a ‘Requires Improvement’ outcome from Ofsted and monitoring visits from Ofsted and DfE that show we are getting things right. Significantly, we have the important support of the Co-operative Academies Trust Board and the local governing body made up of senior managers from our sponsor, the Co-operative Group, and a wide range of expertise drawn from local business and community groups, as well as parents and staff. We are proud of our links with the local authority and Leeds City College, our education partner. Having Frank Norris, a former senior manager and HMI with Ofsted, as the Director of the Trust ensures there is a good balance between support and challenge.

On top of these benefits, the academy building is less than eight years old and provides an excellent learning environment for students and staff. Being at the heart of a vibrant city centre community means there are many languages spoken and a rich cultural mix. The academy has been successful in capitalising on these for enhancing and supporting the curriculum. So much so, that it was shortlisted recently as the International School of the Year in the TES awards.

The academy has developed an able and committed staff. They are led by senior managers with determination for the students and the academy to succeed. After four years at the helm, the current Principal is seeking other opportunities to work with disadvantaged young people both at home and abroad. We anticipate that the new Principal will take up their post in time for a smooth handover and a chance to gain an insight into the values and principles of co-operation and the educational advantages of working within a trust with the Co-operative Group behind it.
